Permits

Permits Building Permit: All building work is charged at $3.00 per $1,000 of estimated cost of material and labor. $25.00 is a minimum fee and includes up to $8,000 worth of work. If work is estimated to be $250 or more a permit is needed.

Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning: 1% of estimated cost including material and labor. $25.00 minimum.

Plumbing work: 1% of estimated cost including material and labor. Must be Indiana State licensed. $25.00 minimum.

Gas piping: 1% of estimated cost including material and labor. $25.00 minimum.

All other piping: 1% of contract amount; with minimum costs of $25.00.

Demolition permit: $50.00 residential; $100.00 commercial or industrial.

Roofing/remodeling: $3.00 per $1,000.00 of estimated costs; minimum cost of $25.00.

Fencing: $25.00

Swimming Pools: in ground $50.00; above ground $25.00.

Electrical work: 1% of estimated cost including material and labor; with minimum costs of $25.00. Must be Vincennes City Licensed, Master for commercial. Residential for 1 and 2 family dwellings. Journeymen cannot buy permits.

Structure Moving permits: Larger than 14 x 70 which is a standard mobile home. $200.00 for the first block or fraction thereof; $1.00 for each additional block or fraction thereof.

Variances: $25.00

Mobile homes: $50.00

Rezoning: $25.00

Vacate alley or street: $25.00

Landscaping: $25.00

Historic Review Board: $25.00

Signs: $1.00 per square foot. Freestanding signs become structure and do not sell permit without area plan approval. All signs will be figured at $25.00 plus $.50 per square foot of signage.

The Area Plan Commission must approve any building work. New construction or going out and beyond the existing structure. There is a $?? fee for this application. Any new commercial buildings or additions must have A.P.C., Landscape, Stormwater and State approval before any permits can be issued.

Electrician licenses: Master $50.00 per year. Residential and Journeyman $30.00 per year. Each Apprentice Electrician fee is $15.00 per year.

Certificate of Appropriateness Required, (B) entitled Application for Certificate of Appropriateness, subsection (1) the fee shall be increased to $25.00

Grounds Permit Required; Fee subsection (B) fee increased to $25.00

Placement with Permit, fee increased to $50.00

Permit Fee, fee increased to $50.00

Filing fees for each application for the approval of the Board of a special exception, a fee of $25.00 to be paid to and collected by City Inspector the receipt for which shall accompany the petition.

Minimum fee for any permit is $25.00

Rental Housing Office $20.00
