Elected to Vincennes City Council District Two in 1996.... Over the years I have been active in the Cub League Baseball program, I have been active in the Library Literacy Program, tutored in the Vincennes Community School System. I have been on the Commission of the Knox County Solid Waste and Area Plan and I have volunteered at the Good Samaritan Hospital.

My wife JoAnn and I have two sons Scott with the Knox County Sheriff`s Department and Ryan, Principal at Clark Middle School. After spending some 35-plus years in the Radio broadcast business I retired. I spent those years at WTCJ in Tell City, WOCH North Vernon, WAKO LAwrenceville, IL, WBTO Linton, WRAY Princeton, and WSLM in Salem. For me its time to run again in 2007. I am also the Historian of St. Vincents Orphanage here in Vincennes and over the years have been organizing reunion since 1988.

Being retired gives me the time to devote to the citizens of Vincennes. I spent some thirty-five plus years in the radio broadcast field working at WAKO in Lawrenceville, IL, WAOV here in Vincennes, WAMW-WFML, Washington, WSLM, Salem, WOCH, North Vernon, WTCJ, Tell City, WRAY, Princeton, WBTO, Linton. I enjoy being a City Councilman, I like being in attendance at various functions, and I shall continue to do my best.

I am in my 4th term of City Council representing the 5th District. I was a past president of the council for 9 years. I currently chair the Public Safety Committee and serve on the Promotion of the City committee. I am also a city representative on the marketing committee of the Knox/Vincennes Convention and Visitors Bureau. I am married to the former Marigay Speer for 36 years and have two children Amanda Salters age 32, an elementary school teacher and Adam, age 30 a pediatric oncology fellow at Duke University. I also have an 11 year old grandson Logan who is a fifth grader at Franklin Elementary school and a 3 y.o. granddaughter Colette (Coco). I am employed as the Director of Intensive Youth Services for the Samaritan Center with my office located at the Willows 1901 Willow St. I have worked in the mental health field for over 30 years.

I also teach part time for Vincennes University in Social Work, Psychology, and Sociology classes. I am a 1970 graduate of Central Catholic High School, a 1972 Vincennes University Graduate in education, a 1974 graduate with a B.S. in psychology from Indiana University; and a 1981 University of Kentucky graduate in Social Work with an M.S.W. (Master of Social Work).

I am a Eucharistic and liturgical minister of the Old Cathedral, past president of the Vincennes Kiwanis, and current president of the Knox County Mental Health Association.

I am also a board member of the Old Northwest Corporation, and the Knox County Association of Retarded Citizens. I am past president and current Marketing Director of the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous. I currently serve as secretary/treasurer of the Verne Society.

Duane Chattin

Duane Chattin, 57, resides at 1809 N. 19th Street. He has two daughters, Katie, an alumna of Vincennes University who will receive a master's degree from IUPUI this summer, and Lisa, a 2007 graduate of Lincoln High School who is now attending VU.

Beginning in 1984, Chattin served three terms on the City Council but did not seek re-election in 1995. He returned to the Council eight years later following his election in 2003 as an at-large member. Chattin chairs the Legislative Review Committee and serves as a member of the Public Safety Committee and Tourism and Promotion Committee.

Chattin is a graduate of Lincoln High School, Vincennes University, and Indiana University, where he earned a bachelor`s degree in journalism and political science. Employed by VU since 1983, he currently serves as director of public information.

A 2003 graduate of Leadership Knox County, Chattin chairs the Knox County Emergency Food and Shelter Committee and is state leadership conference chair for the Indiana Association of United Ways, also serving on its board of directors. He is currently governor of the North Central District for Civitan International, a member of the Good Samaritan Hospice Advisory Committee, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he is a lector and teaches an adult class.

Chattin is past president of the Riley Elementary School PTO, Knox County United Way, Knox County Humane Society, VU Alumni Association, Vincennes Civitan Club, and Knox County Board of Realtors. He is the recipientof VU`s 2002 President`s Award, Civitan`s 1995 Citizen ofthe Year Award, Knox County Humane Society`s 1995 and 1996 Community Award of Merit, and the Indiana Jaycee`s 1991 Outstanding Young Hoosier Award.
