Mayor's Weekly Website Message

The next meeting of the Vincennes City Board of Public Works & Safety is 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 in the Council Chambers of Vincennes City Hall, 201 Vigo Street. The Vincennes City Council will meet at 6:00 that same evening in the same location.

A public meeting is scheduled by the Vincennes Parks & Recreation Department at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in the Fortnightly Club, 421 North 6th Street. Findings and designs will be presented regarding the possible renovation of Rainbow Beach. The Vincennes Parks & Recreation Department is now operating from the Tade Building, 17 Hart Street in Vincennes. For more information, please call 882-1140.

As a reminder to residents who are using their new Toters for trash pickup in Vincennes - trash must still be bagged and $1.25 sticker must be on each bag in order to be picked up by the sanitation department. Trash will be picked up on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. Trash should be set out by 7:00 AM on your pickup day. If you have not received a toter, please continue to place stickers on the bags & set the bags out to be picked up on your scheduled day. Anyone who still needs a Toter and has already called the Vincennes Street Department, there is no need to call again; they will be delivered when a new supply comes in. Yard debris orders should be phoned in to the Street Department at 885-2520 and will be picked up on another day. Yard debris should not be placed in the Toter, it is for bagged, stickered trash only. The compost site on Old Terre Haute Road is open for yard/limb debris from 7:30AM until 2:30 PM Monday-Friday and on Saturday from 8:30 AM until 1:30PM. The day for recycling pickup has not changed.

All residents are reminded the Mayors Assistance Center (M.A.C.) is available by calling 882-H.E.L.P. To respond immediately to the needs and concerns of every Vincennes resident, Mayor Yochum has established 882-H.E.L.P. (882-4357) as the M.A.C. phone number for assistance. This dedicated phone line is open to receive calls during regular business hours regarding items that need to be addressed immediately. Mayor Yochum says, If you see a street light out, pot holes in any of the City streets, an abandoned
vehicle, a dilapidated house or building, or any other situation you feel needs the Citys immediate attention, just call 882-H.E.L.P.
